The Alexander Smith materials

Every detail tells a story.

In our products, the choice of materials is never accidental: it’s the starting point for defining style, comfort, and long-lasting quality. We select premium leathers and technical fabrics, the result of continuous research that blends artisanal tradition with innovation.
Every sneaker, every bag, is born from the meeting of aesthetics and functionality: meticulous craftsmanship, refined materials, and suppliers who share our vision of a contemporary, conscious, and enduring form of luxury.

Copper details

Copper is more than a color: it’s the Alexander Smith signature.
A nod to the warmth of precious metals, to the discreet charm of London at sunset, to the contrast between tradition and modernity that inspires every one of our creations.
You’ll find it in the details - eyelets, logos, ribbons, inner finishes - as a common thread that connects our collections and expresses our identity: elegant, contemporary, and unmistakable.

Nappa leather

Nappa leather is a soft, smooth leather obtained through careful tanning of fine hides such as sheep or calf. It is valued for its natural surface – free from coating films – which preserves its authentic grain and pleasant tactile feel. Elastic and velvety, nappa combines comfort and durability, giving our products a refined appearance and a quality you can feel from the very first touch.

Suede and nubuk

Suede is a soft, velvety leather obtained from the outer side of the hide, known as the “grain”, of animals such as cattle, sheep, or goats. It undergoes a special sanding process, called “buffing”, which gives it its smooth, pleasant-to-the-touch surface. The most commonly used hides for producing suede are lamb, goat, calf, and deer.

Animalier

It’s a type of leather that retains the animal’s natural hair, typically from calf or cattle hide. It is known for its distinctive texture and for the prints applied to its surface that evoke animals such as leopards, tigers, and zebras, giving it a more wild and natural appearance.

Laminated

Laminated leather is created by applying a thin, metallic layer onto the surface of goat, kid, sheep, or cow leather, giving it a shiny, glossy appearance. This treatment can come in various styles, including cracked, aged, or shaded finishes. It can also be applied on a synthetic base to achieve a more technical or performance-oriented look.

Rhinestones

Shoes with rhinestone or stud embellishments are footwear decorated with small artificial crystals, such as acrylic or resin, that mimic the sparkle of precious stones. Rhinestones are applied using heat, glued, or sewn on to customize the shoes and make them more luminous and exclusive. Studs are made from metal and applied by hand, offering an elegant or retro look depending on the color finish.

Light soles

Our soles are made from a material called “EVA”: Ethylene Vinyl Acetate, a lightweight, flexible, and cushioning polymer that absorbs impact, providing comfort and support. Water- and weather-resistant, it is valued for its durability and excellent grip. EVA is produced through a blending and molding process of elastomers and para rubber, which are then vulcanized to enhance their elastic properties.
